Who we are

SeeingTheta is two companies. Both use this website, and both are responsible for the personal data it collects.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies. It has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking scripts. For this reason, it does not show a cookie banner.

If you send us an enquiry

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your organisation, a topic and a message. When you send it, our web server emails these details to our inbox. The website does not keep a copy.

We use these details only to reply to you and to discuss the work you ask about. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Our email runs on Google Workspace, so Google stores the message for us. Google can process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area. It does this under standard contractual clauses.

We delete an enquiry within two years of our last contact with you, unless you become a client.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and steps you ask us to take before a contract.

Server logs

Our hosting company, Tivarri, keeps standard server logs. Each entry records the IP address, the page requested, the time and the browser type. These logs help keep the website secure and working. Tivarri deletes them after a short period.

Fonts, videos and documents

The fonts, videos and PDF files on this website come from our own server. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts, YouTube or any other service to show them.

Settings saved in your browser

On the Resources page, you can switch the card animation on or off. Your browser saves this choice in its local storage, under the name st-card-motion. It stays on your device, and we never receive it. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Links to other websites

Some links take you to other websites, for example LinkedIn, journal publishers, CRAN and itemandscale.com. These are plain links. Nothing from those websites loads on this one. When you follow a link, the privacy policy of that website applies.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. Only two companies process it for us: Tivarri, which hosts the website, and Google, which hosts our email.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict its use, or send it to you in a portable format. You can object to how we use it. To do any of these, email hello@seeingtheta.com. We reply within one month.

If you are not happy with our reply, you can complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
